Used Iphone 3g

Postby wjb1976 on Sat Oct 17, 2009 8:10 pm

Hi all,

I have just bought a 3G Iphone off a mate which has the 3.1 on it. I am currently with Vodafone so want to unlock it. Is it possible to downgrade it to the 3.0 which I don't have on my computer? At the minute it is asking for a valid sim card. Any help would be grateful.

Thanks

If its 3.1 downgrading to 3.0 will not help you. The modem baseband will have been upgraded and is at present unlockable. You can't downgrade that

O2 will unlock the phone for your mate, if he contacts them and pays the fee.

True. It'll have to be him though, as you've no proof that it's yours. If it was issued to your mate with a contract, there'll be records that he's used it on their network so they'll unlock it for him - for free. If he bought it and used it as PAYG then it's £15 to unlock, taken from unused credit on the phone.
